Our intensive one day digital photography course for beginners will explain the science and art of photography from the ground up with almost constant hands-on activities to start to put the theory into practice. With classes no larger than 6 people in a small but fully equipped studio these highly intensive digital photography courses will get you familiar with your camera and allow you to start taking real control over your photography.

By ensuring that you understand what photography actually IS and how the digital SLR works as a tool in this context you will gain an understanding and control of the DSLR system which no user manual or trial and error approach could ever hope to give you.

Courses normally run from 9.30 to 5.30 with around half an hour for lunch and a couple of small breaks along the way to let you rest and digest all that you have learnt.

Being taught by an itinerant full-time professional photographer who shoots everything from interior architecture, live gigs, festivals and corporate events to theatre, portraiture and reportage wedding photography, you will be sure to learn about the photographic challenges of virtually any situation and how to meet them.

No course, including this one, will make you a fantastic photographer overnight, but this course will give you the enthusiasm and the knowledge you need to take the first steps – the rest is up to you!

During the course you will:
- Receive an introduction to the mechanics and functions of the digital SLR camera, including, body, lenses, and flash systems
- Learn how to control and combine these different functions creatively
- Learn about basic composition skills
- Receive an introduction to the basic science and nature of photography and how this relates to creative use of the DSLR system
- Learn how to recognise and critically analyse poor and great photography
- Learn how to set-up, clean and troubleshoot your digital SLR camera
- Get plenty of HANDS-ON practice of all the major creative techniques covered in the course
- Leave the course informed, enthused, and ready to take great pictures with your DSLR
